I am a life long learner who meditates and likes macaroni salad. Deep conversations are my favourite thing. I lived for over a decade in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and moved back to Canada in 2019. I have two daughters and a cat called 'Poor Muffin'.
Things started to change for me when I recognized a pattern. The recognition came with physical pain because I wasn't listening to all the other nudges. I had frozen shoulder again. The first time I had frozen shoulder I realized I had to make some big changes so I moved - from Ethiopia to Canada - in order to match the energy of refusing to every have frozen shoulder again. Except I got it again. I thought I had answered The Big Call. Except I still felt the same - I felt small and stuck and worried about other people's behaviour. I had to interrupt the pattern; I couldn't keep telling myself the same things and expect it to turn out differently this time. That's when a shift happened!
I noticed my focus was on external things like relationships and work and what other people were doing. Essentially I was focused on what wasn't working already. What needed to change in order to feel differently? My first clue was something a massage therapist told me: do less. I began to notice the smallest movement in my shoulder. I moved in ways that felt better. I played on the edge of discomfort in order to shift. Once I searched for ways I could feel better in my body, my brain followed. I noticed my thoughts and I started to deliberately calibrate to things and experiences that felt better. My shoulder began to thaw and my internal reality felt more expansive. It was slow but it was good.
I firmly believe that how we feel determines our external reality. We feel better when we deliberately calibrate to a more expansive version of ourselves. I spent years searching for what works without even having a defined map. I am inspired to share what I have learned with others so they can know what's available. It's possible to experience shifts, it's possible to feel better and it's possible to be the creator of your life.
